Polyoxometalate-based molecular materials
Article Abstract:
Polyoxometalates (POMs) have been found useful in the construction of molecule-based materials because of their electrical and magnetic properties. Some POMs that are of high interest for this application include the organic/inorganic hybrid salts in which the electron donors are organic molecules of the TTF type, the organometallic/inorganic salts in which the electron donor is the decamethylferrocene and the organic/inorganic films in which the polyoxometalates are embedded in conducting organic polymers of the polypyrrole type.

[alpha]-aminoalkyl-[alpha]'-halomehtylketones: Preparation and application to pharmaceutically interesting compounds
Article Abstract:
The most common methods used for the large scale preparation of [alpha]-aminoalkyl-[alpha]'-halomehtylketones are described used to synthesize various HIV protease inhibitors. The small-scale syntheses of [alpha]-aminoalkyl-[alpha]'-halomehtylketones is easily achievable but large scale syntheses requires use of diazomethane. While chemists have developed methods that circumvent use of diazomethane, the processes often use hazardous reagents and involve very reactive intermediates.
